Technical Notes

One of the most spectacular fall hikes in Washington. Loop passes Lake Ann and climbs to Maple Pass with panoramic views of the North Cascades. Best in late September to mid-October for golden larch trees. Hike counterclockwise for best views. Snow on trail into July. SR-20 closes in winter (late Nov to late April).
